Tampa Bay Championship presented by EverBank

The Tampa Bay Championship is building on a long history of supporting Tampa Bay charities through the efforts of the Copperheads, the group that hosts the tournament.

With a successful 2012 championship, total charitable contributions generated by the Copperheads since 1978 is nearing the $30 million mark.

Much of the tournament’s success comes from Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities, a program that works with more than 70 area charitable groups to raise money for worthy causes. In 12 years of existence, Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities has raised $15 million for local charities.

The Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities Bonus Pool is a fund that provides a substantial booster shot to the donations raised by the local charities based on the number of birdies made in Championship play. In addition, the Copperheads absorb all administrative costs of the program, including printed materials, invoicing and account services.

It is the mission statement of the Tampa Bay Championship to deliver a first-class professional golf event to the Tampa Bay area; provide an exceptional experience for all while focusing on a commitment to excellence, entertainment, charitable giving and being a positive influence in the community.
