World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational ancillary events to support local charities

AKRON, Ohio – The World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational today announced two ancillary events prior to and during tournament week, with proceeds benefitting worthy charities. The Bridgestone Invitational returns to Firestone Country Club’s South Course on August 2-6.

Dustin Fox Cornhole Tournament
The second-annual Dustin Fox Cornhole tournament, conducted by Slick Woody’s Cornhole Co., will be held on Saturday, July 29 at the Bridgestone Invitational Pennzoil Fan Zone presented by Firestone Complete Auto Care, located adjacent to the clubhouse.

Two double elimination cornhole tournaments – one pro and one social – will commence following the bracket selection at 11:15 a.m. The pro tournament will be for a cash prize with a $100 entry fee; the social tournament will be a $50 entry with the opportunity to win prizes. The tournament is set to benefit The Buckeye Cruise for Cancer and The Urban & Shelley Meyer Fund for Cancer Research.

Pumpkinhead will bring the best Browns tailgate in Cleveland to Firestone and provide entertainment throughout the day, as well as silent auction items for bidding during the tournament. Fans will be able to enjoy their very own cornhole games during tournament week, as Slick Woody’s Cornhole Co. is providing boards for fan entertainment throughout the course. Rascal Flatts Concert at Canal Park
The Mawaka Foundation in partnership with LOPen Charities presents Rockin’ FORE the Kids! on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Canal Park in Akron. Rascal Flatts will headline the event at 8:30 p.m., with special guest Brother Trouble opening at 7 p.m. Fireworks will immediately follow the performance.
