World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship generates more than $850k for charity

DORAL, Fla. – Officials from the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship announced the 2013 event generated $855,000 for charity. Organizations that received donations include The First Tee of Miami, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida, Miami Children’s Hospital, Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, the United Way of Miami and The Miami Project/Nick Buoniconti Fund.
“Charity is the heart of the PGA TOUR,” said Cadillac Championship Chairman Butch Buchholz. “Many of our fans don’t realize the tremendous charitable impact that the Cadillac Championship has each year. When fans buy a ticket to attend the Cadillac Championship they are, in turn, supporting many worthy charities here in our South Florida community.”
The Cadillac Championship has generated more than $10 million for charity since its inception. The World Golf Championships as a whole have generated more than $40 million for charitable causes since the series began in 1999.
The announcement was made at The First Tee of Miami’s learning center at Melreese Golf Club as the Cadillac Championship held a kickoff reception for its TICKETS Fore CHARITYTM program for the 2014 event. Through TICKETS Fore CHARITY, the Cadillac Championship is providing 501(c)(3) organizations with the opportunity to promote tournament tickets to benefit their organization. Best of all, 100 percent of the net proceeds from the ticket sales – net proceeds exclude tax or processing fees – go to the charity promoting the tickets.
“We can’t thank the PGA TOUR and the Cadillac Championship enough for their support of The First Tee Miami and the South Florida community,” said Charlie DeLucca III, The First Tee Miami executive director. “The First Tee Miami, through its new Family Learning Center, is focused on impacting the lives of 6,500 young people annually, by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. In addition to the tournament’s already significant overall charitable contribution, TICKETS Fore CHARITY allows us to raise even more funds for our program. Even more impressive is the value of the ticket that is available as part of this deal. Fans can purchase a weekly
Clubhouse Ticket for $175 (gate price is $200) or a Good-Any-One-Day Grounds Pass for as low as $30 (gate price is $45). As the Trump Organization has committed more than $250 million in the transformation of both the Blue Monster course and to the resort itself, having clubhouse access will be one of the most sought-after tickets at the tournament. Additionally, the tournament will host a post-round fashion show on Friday of tournament week and post-round concert on Saturday of tournament week. The good-any-day grounds pass will not only get fans out to the event to watch golf, but can also be used at these entertainment events as well.
The reception was attended by 40 local charitable organizations. One of the attendees was DJ Irie, the official D.J. of the Miami Heat. DJ Irie was part of last year’s Fashion Friday at the Cadillac Championship and will again be a part of the festivities at the 2014 event. His foundation, the Irie Foundation, will be participating in the TICKETS Fore Charity program.

The Cadillac Championship continues to bring together the worlds of fashion, music and entertainment at one of the most elite and exciting tournaments on golf’s calendar when the tournament returns to Trump National Doral on March 5-9, 2014.
In 2013, the tournament put this new focus in motion with a fashion show that included DJ Irie and celebrity designer Nicolas Felizola. The following evening, the tournament treated fans to a concert from Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas. In 2014, these events will grow with “Fashion Friday,” an extended, all-day event to include fashionable fan features and an off-the-runway presentation of the latest designer looks. A bigger stage will house the 2014 concert on Saturday night, and the tournament is making plans for additional improvements to the fan experience and social aspects.
