THE PLAYERS Championship hosts Tools4Schools at Crookshank Elementary

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.- On September 8, THE PLAYERS Championship teamed up with the St. Johns County Education Foundation and over a dozen partners to host Tools4Schools, a back to school resource day at Crookshank Elementary in Saint Augustine, Fla. Students from the school, which serves many low-income families, were treated to free clothing, backpacks, a new pair of tennis shoes, health screenings, meals to go, haircuts and more.  In total, more than 500 children were able to kick the 2012 school year off on the right foot thanks to the event's many generous sponsors.

Tools4Schools event by the numbers:

• Approximately 10,000 items of donated clothing distributed
• 1,089 pairs of underwear and 620 pairs of socks  (compliments of Dignity U Wear)
• 600 toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste  (compliments of Colgate)
• 600 new backpacks full of school supplies  (compliments of Walmart and THE PLAYERS)
• 625 vouchers for new shoes (compliments of THE PLAYERS)
• 500 packages of food for a family of four  (compliments of Second Harvest)
• 400 books  (compliments of Books A Go-Go)
• 200 haircut vouchers  (compliments of Hair Cuttery)
• 143 dental screenings (compliments of Colgate)
• 100+ volunteers 
• 75 vision screenings (compliments of Vision is Priceless)
• 55 wellness exams  (compliments of Wolfson Children's Hospital/Baptist Health)
• 45 haircuts  (compliments of Philosophy Hair Salon)
• 27 speech and hearing exams (compliments of Speech and Hearing Center of Jacksonville)
• 20 school and sports physicals  (compliments of St. Vincent's Mobile Outreach Ministry)
