What a Day

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa.—June 29 was one of the best days in our lives. We woke up at 4:30 in the morning to go to the AT&T National at Aronimink Golf Club. We did not know what kind of day we were going to have, but you professional golfers made it a great day for us. We want to especially thank Mr. Jim Furyk, Mr. Dustin Johnson, Mr. Vijay Singh, Mr. Aaron Baddeley, Mr. Lucas Glover, Mr. Justin Rose, Mr. Steve Marino, Mr. Tiger Woods, Mr. John Merrick and Mr. Steve Elkington.

All day, we asked the golfers if we could have an autographed golf ball. Not only did you sign our golf balls but you also signed our hats. A lot of you allowed us to take a picture with you. Mr. Johnson really stood out on this. He even waited a few minutes for our camera to load, stood for a picture with each of us and autographed our hats.

On the next hole, after Mr. Furyk’s amazing drive, we asked him if we could have our picture taken with him. He asked us to come out to the fairway for the picture! That was one moment of our lives that we will never forget. Mr. Marino autographed our hats at the driving range, and then later in the day he threw each of us a golf ball.

Late in the afternoon, we were getting tired from all the walking. We had about 30 autographs from the professional golfers when we saw Mr. Merrick on the first tee. We asked him to sign our golf balls, and he invited us to come out to him. We got to walk the fairway with him. That really made our feet feel wide awake.

We want to thank Mr. Woods for making our last 30 minutes at Aronimink Golf Club breathtaking. We did not get an autograph but, instead, a high-five which was great. His swing and stroke were so smooth and pure.

Mr. Rose was walking up to his 360-yard drive on the first fairway when we saw him. We asked him if he could sign our golf balls. He told us to throw them out to him. We did, and he joked, “Thank you for the balls, kids,” and we all laughed. He autographed the balls and threw them back. Little did we know that a few days later, he would go on to win the tournament. Congratulations to you Mr. Rose on your win. That is so cool. We hope to play you one day on the golf course.
