THE PLAYERS, G/FORE team up to raise awareness, funds for The DONNA Foundation

THE PLAYERS ongoing support of The DONNA Foundation will continue on Saturday, May 5th, with a sold-out field of 1,750 runners taking place in the annual THE PLAYERS DONNA 5K.

This year, however, support of the foundation will extend far beyond THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass – to Beverly Hills, Calif.

G/FORE, a golf fashion brand, recently shared the news that it will PINK OUT its website from Tuesday, May 8th through Monday, May 14th, with a portion of the proceeds from online sales during THE PLAYERS benefiting The DONNA Foundation.

“For us, wearing pink on Sundays isn’t just a fashion statement, it’s a passion statement. We’re so grateful to know that the team at G/FORE shares that passion and wants to join us in supporting women with breast cancer,” said Donna Deegan, Founder and CEO (Chief Eternal Optimist) of The DONNA Foundation. “No woman should ever have to choose between putting food on the table for her kids and getting the care she needs. When a company like G/FORE steps up, it sends a strong message to all of those women. We’re with you. You are not alone.”

G/FORE is a passionate supporter of breast cancer awareness. Known for its colored gloves – especially pink – the company felt THE PLAYERS was the perfect opportunity to showcase its PINK products, but more importantly, support a great cause.

In addition, G/FORE has also partnered with PGA TOUR players Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson, both active supporters of the cause. Mickelson and Watson will both be wearing custom G/FORE PINK OUT shoes for THE PLAYERS, which, after a 12-year stint, will conclude play for the last time in the foreseeable future on Mother’s Day.

I’m glad we could use one of our brand’s key colors, Blossom Pink, to raise money and awareness for a great cause,” said Mossimo Giannulli, CEO and Designer for G/FORE. “The support for Bubba and Phil is a huge benefit as they will bring increased attention to this effort and The DONNA Foundation at THE PLAYERS.

“I’m optimistic that the PINK OUT activation will be a success for all as breast cancer has impacted so many.”

THE PLAYERS DONNA 5K, meanwhile, will kick-off tournament week as runners and walkers of all levels enjoy a 5K route through the back nine of THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, just days before the start of the tournament. Net proceeds from THE PLAYERS DONNA 5K will go to breast cancer research at Mayo Clinic and care for those living with breast cancer.

To date, THE PLAYERS DONNA 5K series has raised nearly $400,000 for The DONNA Foundation.
