PGA TOUR player and Navy veteran Billy Hurley III to host second annual charity tournament

June 27, 2018

ANNAPOLIS, Md.- PGA TOUR professional and military veteran Billy Hurley III will host the second annual Billy Hurley III and the Brave golf tournament on July 30-31 at the United States Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, MD.

18 Navy service members were selected to receive an all-expense paid opportunity to participate in an unforgettable weekend that includes a golf outing with Hurley and a hosted suite at the Baltimore Orioles Major League Baseball game on July 30.

The participating golfers were selected from 22 Navy golf courses throughout the United States on a raffle basis.

The weekend provides a memorable experience to these service members, and also generates support for charitable endeavors close to Hurley’s heart including the Billy Hurley III Foundation, a charity dedicated to offering military families assistance with college expenses; a military charity; Naval Academy Athletics and one male and female junior golf scholarship recipient.

Hosting Navy personnel holds a special place for Hurley, given that he served five years active duty as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy after attending the Naval Military Academy in Annapolis. As the only veteran on the PGA TOUR, he now spends his days as a rising talent on TOUR and giving back to programs including this special weekend, as well as the annual Billy Hurley III Junior Championship, featuring some of the best junior golfers in the country.

“I can’t imagine a better way to spend the weekend than on the greens at my alma mater with some of America’s finest Navy service members,” said Hurley. “Giving back to these fellow sailors in this way warms my heart, and touches the charities that are so important to me. It’s a true win-win.”
