Celebrating PGA TOUR Volunteerism: Ann Otte Hunger

August 8, 2018

For more than four decades, the Hunger family has called the Memorial Tournament home.

Ann Otte Hunger, who co-chairs the Player Evacuation and Mobile Device Courtesy Committee, got her start at the tournament thanks to her parents. Ann’s father, a Columbus-based sportswriter, and mother, who was working the first-ever Memorial Tournament, quickly enlisted their daughter’s help as a volunteer.

Hunger has been there ever since, enjoying the opportunity to participate and give back to the local community. She was honored with her 40-year volunteer pin this year.

“Just knowing what the tournament benefits, personally, that’s what’s rewarding,” Hunger said.

Ann is among hundreds of tournament volunteers sharing their motivations for volunteering this summer as part of the #IVolunteerBecause initiative. This fun onsite experience celebrates volunteerism with the opportunity for volunteers to inspire others with their personal reflections on volunteering. Sharing takes place at a mobile sharing station and on-course and is part of the 2018 PGA TOUR Volunteer Appreciation Program Sponsored by Myrbetriq® (mirabegron).

Myrbetriq® (mirabegron) is a prescription medicine manufactured by Astellas Pharma US, Inc. Astellas first became a PGA TOUR sponsor in early 2013 and is proud to partner with the PGA TOUR as both organizations share a deep commitment to the power of volunteerism and recognize the impact we make by giving back in our local communities.
