David Toms

David focuses his charitable pursuits on his foundation, The David Toms Foundation. David’s foundation works with at-risk boys and girls by providing them with programs designed to increase their self-esteem and life-building skills. He is also a proud supporter of the Military Warriors Support Foundation and Birdies for the Brave.

A native of Louisiana, David stepped up a few years ago to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. His efforts teaming up with the Katrina Relief Fund raised more than $1.5 million. The Golf Coaches Association of America created the David Toms Award in 2010 in conjunction with the David Toms Foundation. The Award annually honors the men’s collegiate golfer who has overcome adversity to achieve excellence. Billy Shida, a 22-year-old junior at Georgia College who contracted Lyme disease in 2008, is the first recipient.

In August of 2013, the David Toms Foundation will open the David Toms Academy in Shreveport, LA. The Academy will be affiliated with The First Tee of Northwest Louisiana and will work with approximately 400 children each year from all backgrounds. For more information, please visit
